Ugandan attorney Deputy Attorney General, also Rushenyi county Member of Parliament (MP) Mwesigwa Rukutana has blasted State Minister for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite, saying he cannot kill her, advising that she be taken to Butabika hospital for examination.
“If it occurred to her that I could be a murderer then we should take her to Butabika to get her head checked, why should I murder a girl anyway? I know how to put girls to some other good use,”he said.
On Monday 19th August, minister Anite revealed to journalists that she has received death threats from a mafia cartel in government over her role in causing an internal audit on activities of the Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL), saying they are holding meetings, including at Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) offices.
Anite’s allegations follow an order issued by the High Court in Kampala for an audit into the struggling Uganda Telecom (UTL) within 30 days which has since commenced.
The order was issued by Justice Musa Ssekaana upon application by Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), one of its creditors of UTL.
The court’s order ended a 2 months standoff between the secretary to the treasury, Keith Muhakanizi and the state minister for finance, Evelyn Anite on whether UTL should be audited or not.
Now, Anite alleges that the unknown people are holding meetings plotting to kill her at Kampala Club but she insists she is ready to die in line of fighting for the assets of Ugandans.
Minister Anite further suggests the audits should be done publically to rule out any doubts and sabotage in this investigations.
Members of Parliament to resign.
A section of Members of Parliament from the West Nile region in northern Uganda where Anite comes from have threatened to resign their positions in the 10th Parliament and secede from Uganda if the mafias fall through with their ploy to kill

Songa said that as MPs for West Nile region, we demand an explanation from Government on the threats on Anite’s life and that Government pronounces itself on Anite’s security and the anxious people of West Nile of her safety.
He demanded that government formally communicates to the country on the state of affairs at UTL and status of UTL assets.
In a joint statement read by Songa, the lawmakers also want Government to guarantee that no Ugandan irrespective of their tribe, affiliation should be vindicated while performing their duties including demanding accountability and also called on the Ministry of ICT, Uganda Communications Commission and Police investigate and report on phone tapping, poisoning threats and trailing Anite.
The lawmakers said that they are eagerly waiting for Government’s lasting solution to the UTL saga with calls to have the matter settled to ensure all Ugandans live in harmony.
Alion said that they are in possession of information and data which proves that there is corruption taking place at UTL and called on Ugandans to credit Anite instead of mocking her efforts to fight corruption.
Other MPs described Anite as a mother to many people in West Nile and that she is doing good for West Nile, while others called on Ugandans not to mix Anite’s remarks over having support of the army with accountability issues.

Lipstick: ARE YOU SAFE! IS YOURS SAFE (Her) ! MINE IS.
Many lipsticks contain lead, which is extremely harmful and causes irreversible health damage. They cause allergy, irritation, and chapping on the lips and the surrounding skin.
Side effects of lipstick:
Certain harmful chemicals and heavy metals can also cause cancer.
The mineral oils used in lipsticks block the skin pores and are responsible for many permanent harmful effects
The most important component in a woman’s make-up kit is probably the lipstick. No make-up kit is complete without one (or many, considering the different shades and brands). They no doubt add beauty to your pout.
But, at what cost? Lipsticks come with some unavoidable side-effects, thanks to its manufacturing materials. Women wear lipstick when they leave home and continue wearing it all day long – sometimes even to bed.
Many lipsticks contain lead, which is extremely harmful and causes irreversible health damage. They cause allergy, irritation, and chapping on the lips and the surrounding skin. Certain harmful chemicals and heavy metals can also cause cancer.
Here are some harmful side-effects of using lipsticks regularly.
Heavy metals cause renal failure.
Lipsticks contain harmful heavy metals like cadmium, magnesium and chromium. All these metals can cause dangerous diseases and organ damage. Extremely high amounts of cadmium can increase the risk of renal failure. Frequent application of lipstick can cause severe stomach tumours.
Lead is harmful to the nervous system
Lead is a common constituent in most lipsticks. Lead is a neurotoxin that has a harmful effect on the nervous system. It can also cause brain damage, hormonal imbalance and infertility.
Petrochemicals may affect the growth.
Many lipsticks have petrochemicals as a common ingredient, which have harmful side-effects. Petrochemicals are a by-product of crude oil and natural gas. It can cause endocrine disruption that works as an obstacle for growth, development, reproduction, and intelligence.
Preservatives used in lipstick cause cancer.
The preservatives used in lipsticks are formaldehyde and parabens that are known carcinogens. Lipsticks that utilize these preservatives cause irritation of the eyes, coughing, wheezing and irritation on skin. The mineral oils used in lipsticks block the skin pores and are responsible for many permanent harmful effects.
Chemicals in lipstick harm the body.
Though bismuth oxychloride is a chemical used to preserve the lipstick, it is extremely harmful for the body. The harmful effect of lipsticks is due to the carcinogenic property of this ingredient. The propylparabens act as preservatives just like formaldehyde.
Lipstick increases toxin ingestion.
Lipsticks are worn most of the time, including when eating out. Women ingest them accidentally while eating, long after they are applied. This increases the impact of the toxins present in lipsticks. The lipstick or lip gloss result in women exceeding the daily intake permitted for aluminium, cadmium, chromium and manganese. These accumulate in the body over time and cause toxicity. The intake of these metals are more than 20 per cent of their accepted daily intake (ADI) limits. ADI is the maximum amount of a toxin that a person can be exposed to without any major health risk.
So, here are some major side-effects caused by the harmful chemicals and heavy metals present in leading brands of lipsticks and lip gloss. The next time you wear your lipstick, make sure you wear one that does not contain these harmful ingredients.
On the lighter side, even men are vulnerable to the side-effect caused by lipstick stain on their shirts, when they are caught by their wives who realize that the lipstick stain on their shirt does not belong to them.

Western Uganda: Industrial Waste,Sewage directed into River Rwizi.
Western Uganda – River Rwizi which is the source of livelihood in 10 districts of western Uganda is choking on sewerage, garbage and effluent released from factories.
According to a study carried out by Mbarara district, it was discovered that many commercial buildings including hotels, shopping malls, rentals don’t have sewerage lines.
“Many buildings in Mbarara which are constructed don’t have sewerage lines, instead what they call sewerage pipes connect straight to River Rwizi and others use water drainage channels to pour their sewerage into River Rwizi,” Jolly Kagira the secretary for works Mbarara district explains.
With the degradation of River Rwizi being a major concern, two climate reporters attached to NECJOGHA decided to make their own investigations to discover who are the culprits in releasing sewerage and effluent into River Rwizi.
In Kamukuzi Division they found that many hotels, shops and rentals which are built in the Rwebikona surburb of Mbarara including Rwizi Arch Hotel, Lake View Hotel, Ankole Institute for business and vocational studies, do not have sewerage lines and use the drainage channels which are supposed to take rainy water to dump sewerage into the river.
In Kakoba and Nyamitanga divisions which have many commercial buildings including big institutions most buildings also don’t have sewerage lines. They were shocked to find out that out of ten buildings built along Bananuka Drive and Buremba Road, only three of them have proper sewerage lines but others use drainage channels to pour their sewerage into River Rwizi.
At Bananuka Drive we found sewerage flowing out from different hotels and bars like; Pelican hotel, Sabs Hotel and Bar, Nicoz Lounge, Romax Hotel, International Window School, Kash Hotel, Western Arcade, Vision Empire and commercial buildings like Mbarara City Mall.
This sewerage from those building was found to be connected to drainage channels that go down to Kiswahili town and connect to other drainage channels that also bring sewerage from school buildings namely Kabateraine Memorial School, Mbarara Municipal School, Mbarara Community Institute and others. The drainage channel which was supposed to take rain water from town turned into sewerage line which ends into River Rwizi behind the Mbarara central prison.
Some factories in Mbarara town have also been accused of releasing effluent from their processes into the river. Some of these are Kazire Health Products which manufactures herbal medicines and Tip Top which makes bread.
However, Dickson Musasizi, the Production Manager of Kazire says they release effluents to the river to taste the quality of their water on the water hyacinth.
“If our water was dangerous the water hyacinth would die but the fact the weed doesn’t die means our water is safe,” Musasizi says.
Sserunkuma Muzapharu who owns Koyinawo waste management company attributed what is being done to River Rwizi to poor planning of the town.
“They are some rich people who are more powerful than the leaders. But it’s surprising and shameful that these people who have money and can afford proper sewerage lines just dump their sewerage in River Rwizi,” he said.
The Mayor of Mbarara, Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi admitted that many buildings in town don’t have proper sewerage lines but since the municipality has now been upgraded to city status they will work with Police and local residents to fight the degradation of River Rwizi.
Richard Musota, the Principal Water Officer in Ministry of Water and Environment said there is no one who is releasing effluent into the river who has not been sensitized.
“I don’t think that there is anyone who is not aware of the law that requires them to manage their effluent,” Musota said.
He appealed to residents of the areas near River Rwizi to report to them in time so as to take action as they are not always in the field every time.
River Rwizi which covers approximately 8200 km is the source of water for both human use and animals in the 10 districts of Rakai, Lyantonde, Isingiro, Lwengo, Kiruhura, Mbarara, Bushenyi, Buhweju, Sheema and Rubirizi.
